In 2017 a group of passionate locals formulated and fine-tuned the design of an extraordinary community-minded idea, the Mangawhai Community Opportunity Shop Trust (MCOST). 

Our vision is to finance projects that aim to bring significant social benefits to the community. The platform for the trust’s fundraising activities is the Mangawhai Community Op Shop.

The total focus and reason for being is 100% dedicated to the enhancement of the whole community, not just for one organisation. “To help other organisations achieve what they're trying to achieve... to have a fund that people in the community can donate to as well as apply for funding from.” Margie Murray, Founding Trustee

PURPOSE

  • We create opportunities for our Mangawhai community.

  • Profits from The Mangawhai Community Op Shop provide grants for deserving Mangawhai projects.

  • The key criteria for grants is that the project enhances the Mangawhai community and delivers beneficial social gain.
