Community Grant Successful Applicant Announcement

Mangawhai Opportunity Factory is pleased to announce the successful applicants for its inaugural wave of funding support for the ongoing development and enhancement of the Mangawhai community.

The grant support funding will enable progress and a broad range of wonderful community initiatives.

From 19 grant applications, 9 special projects have been selected for funding ranging from 80% to 100% support for their requested project funding.

The first spread of projects able to be supported in this first funding initiative for The Factory is very exciting, providing long-term infrastructure legacies for our fast-growing community.

These coupled with selected youth development programs, providing Mangawhai youths with life skill enhancement opportunities, will encourage and reward their own personal development and community commitment.

These are the successful grant funding applicants:

Mangawhai Heads Volunteer Lifeguard Service Inc. 
New equipment storage facility.

Mangawhai Toy Library

Refurbishment of Mangawhai Beach school and community hall.

Gum Diggers Track, multi-purpose track linking Molesworth to Cove Road.

Mangawhai Tennis Club
Completion of 2 all-weather, day-night courts.

Provision of emergency food packages.

North Rodney Blue Light Ventures Inc.
Youth development programs, fishing and seamanship camp for 20 Mangawhai youths, plus 3 local youths attending the national Blue Light Life Skills course.

The Factory has been able to provide support to operations involved with recreational, educational, environmental, sport, community services, cultural groups and importantly local youth development.

This is very gratifying to the 50 strong team of local volunteers, with them knowing that their enthusiastic support working in The Factory is enabling so many community initiatives to realise their ambitions.

All brought about through the overwhelming support from the people of Mangawhai in providing product donations and customer support.

With this wonderful support, The Factory community grant pot will only grow during the coming years, enabling sustained and independent development funding for our wonderful community.

Mangawhai Youth Development Added To Funding Program!   

Mangawhai Opportunity Factory adds Mangawhai youth development to its funding program!   

In addition to the Mangawhai community enhancement funding being provided by the Mangawhai Opportunity Factory, an exciting new funding initiative has been introduced.

Commencing from February 15% of available funding will be dedicated to Mangawhai youth development Initiatives.

MCOST (The trust running Mangawhai Opportunity Factory) will coordinate with schools, churches, sporting and cultural groups, taking their applications for funding support that will assist in providing Mangawhai youths with the opportunity to realise their greater potential.

Applications Open For First Funding Round

As a new entity the Mangawhai Community Opportunity Shop Trust (MCOST), trading as Mangawhai Opportunity Factory (The Factory), has been set up to benefit our growing community.

MCOST is pleased to invite applications from local groups to apply for funding for projects which will enhance Mangawhai and provide social benefit.

Opened at 5 Wood Street on October 14th, The Factory has started with a bang with great support from residents, visitors, bach owners and volunteers.

The goal of The Factory, run by MCOST,  is to build a fund for the Community by the Community to provide independent funding for projects supporting this great town.

Applications will close on Wednesday February 28th, 2018.

Raffle Prize Winner Announced

Thank you to everybody who came in and supported the Mangawhai community by buying a raffle ticket. We sold out after being open for just one week! ✌🏼 

We drew the raffle on Sunday and one of our lovely customers picked the lucky number out of the hat! The winner is Matthew Oxley. 

An extra big thank you also goes to the wonderful businesses who donated product, especially for the raffle prize...

Opening Day

Saturday 14 October came around quickly and we opened The Factory, the new opportunity shop in Mangawhai Heads! 

Interest was huge with customers lining up before opening time.

Stock flew out the door and the turn out throughout the day just blew us away. It's so wonderful to see our community get behind The Factory and really appreciate how this idea is going to benefit the community.

The Mangawhai Opportunity Factory is opening on 14 October and we're looking for volunteers to join our friendly and energetic team.

The exciting new opportunity shop is being opened to raise funds to go directly back into the Mangawhai community.

Pop in on Monday 9 October at 10am at our new opportunity shop's location 5 Wood Street, Mangawhai Heads (Behind the petrol station).

The store manager will be there to answer your questions and talk through the requirements of being a volunteer.
